HOW TO USE THE COLOUR WHEEL TO IMPROVE YOUR PAINTING
![]()
Whether you work in oils, acrylics or watercolours, learning how to use the colour wheel can really help you understand colour, mix colours more easily and use different colour strategies for your paintings. If you look at one of those little colour wheels you can be flumoxed by all the technical words and how to use the wheel itself. You will learn by using a different colour wheel combination each day so that you know exactly how it works.
Often people look at artists who use colour creatively and think they have a 'natural' sense of colour. Perhaps they do, but more likely they know how to use the principles of the colour wheel! You will learn about complimentary colours, analogous, split complimentary, and triadic and should have a good understanding of how you can make your paintings more dynamic by the end of the week.
