ABOUT US - PHEONA & DAVID
Pheona Kerr BA Hons, ILTM, Dip Hom. studied Sculpture and Fine Art at Glasgow
School of Art around 30 years ago and more recently studied at The Florence
Academy of Art. She has had a very successful career teaching art to many different
groups, and in many different art subjects. She established an extremely successful
Art Department in Strathclyde University over her 17 years tenure. She has also
been a tutor for The Open College of Arts for that period of time and also lectured
in various Colleges of Further Education. As the 'Windsor & Newton'
'Educational Advisor for Scotland', she gained extensive knowledge of
the technical properties of art materials. Pheona has a thorough knowledge of
how to teach art simply, selflessly and without fancy jargon or mysticism. She
has continued to exhibit widely while also gaining a reputation as a first class
portrait painter.
Her own art work is classically based, with a love of heightened colour. She
works in many mediums, water colours, pastels, oil, acrylics, and sculpture
too.

Her main mantra is to share her love of art in all its forms and enable other people to learn as quickly and effectively as possible. In other words she is generous with her own vast knowledge. She believes that a sound knowledge of the basics in art can help creativity later and although she strives for 'good practice' she also encourages her students to express themselves individually.
David Gormley, as a former accountant, ensures that the business side of the art school runs smoothly. He is a man of a great many other talents too; He does most of the behind the scenes work, drives the minibus, bakes the bread and utilises his love of history and geography in organising the daily group excursions. He is also very practical and helpful, and basically, is around to help you feel at home during your holiday. He also plays guitar so you may find there's a musical evening involved somewhere!
