WALKING HOLIDAYS and OUTDOOR HOLIDAYS

Emilia Romagna is an ideal place for those who love outdoor activities amid beautiful natural scenery. Our home is in the National Park of the Giant (Parco del Gigante) which is the geographic heart of the larger protected area 'The Appennino National Park'.

November November November

Both Pheona and David are experienced hillwalkers, climbers (when younger!), and navigators, including winter skills. Pheona has been a regular walking leader for the Glasgow HF Outdoor Club for the past 10 years, always updating training, and has recently completed courses in 'mountaineering first aid' and 'silver level navigation' (2009). David is also a very experienced leader of walking groups.

You can opt for a walking holiday in which you are able to walk on your own with the use of maps and route descriptions. Or you can choose a walking holiday where you are accompanied each day by a leader. We are able to listen to what sort of day out you would like and suggest a different walk each day. These holidays also include transporting you to the start of your walk and collecting you at the end.

From the house there are lots of local trails to the river, through the fields, and towards Villa Minozzo. There are also many waymarked routes throughout the region you may wish to explore yourself.

Snow Weeks

Come and visit us in March or April when there is still plenty of snow but the days are longer and there is plenty of sunshine to enjoy the outdoors.

Ski, snowboard, walk, snow shoe, cross country ski, build snow men.....do whatever you wish....it is a big white playground! If you have never done any of these before, fear not, because the equipment is easy to hire and we can get you started.

SCRAMBLING

For the more adventurous there is a small 'Via Ferrata' nearby with cables to help you through the steep parts, suspension bridges over the gorge and rock ledges to traverse.

CLIMBING

Then, the Bismantova is great for free climbing and is Italy's favourite for the number and variety of fixed routes.

What a wonderful playgound, with fantastic views all around!

............and a wealth of other activities for the nature lover such as bird watching and flower observation.
